Short and honest. This is a pilot product. Read this once before you go offshore.
The short version
FishEdge is a marine data dashboard. It is not a navigation tool, not a fishing guarantee, and not a substitute for captain judgment. If anything in these terms conflicts with that, the short version wins.
What FishEdge is
A web dashboard that displays public satellite oceanography data — sea-surface temperature, chlorophyll concentration, surface currents, and bathymetry — for pre-trip investigation. Plus the Captain Pilot, a feedback program during the 2026 season.
What FishEdge is not
- Not for navigation. No chart plotter, no AIS, no routing for vessel navigation. Cross-check with official NOAA charts and onboard instruments.
- Not a fishing guarantee. Marine data is one input among many. Tides, bait, weather, local knowledge, and on-water decisions matter more.
- Not real-time. Satellite data is delayed by orbit, processing, and ingest. The timestamp on every layer tells you when the data was valid.
- Not always complete. Cloud cover, sensor outages, and orbit gaps mean some days have less data than others.
Captain responsibility
You remain responsible for navigation, safety, regulatory compliance (federal, state, and tournament), and every fishing decision. FishEdge supports investigation. It does not replace it.
Data sources
All data is from public sources: NOAA, NASA, and Copernicus. FishEdge does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any data for any particular purpose. Verify against original sources before relying on it.
Pilot terms
The Captain Pilot is free through the 2026 season. Access may be granted or revoked based on fit, geography, and operating profile. No commitment on either side. If the pilot is discontinued, you'll be notified by email and given the option to export any saved data.
Account
You're responsible for your account credentials. Don't share access. If your account is compromised, email captains@fishedge.live immediately.
Service changes
This is an early-stage product. Features, coverage, refresh cadence, and access terms may change as the project develops. Material changes will be noted on the /blog.
No warranty
FishEdge is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The author is not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from use of the dashboard.
